Attaching the base

After putting the walls together, you turn it upside down and attach the base. Here's where you find out how precise your cutting was. An alternative is to attach the base piece not to the exterior plywood walls but to the solid interior posts. Drilling lengthwise vertically between the plywood layers of the walls is not very secure, whereas the posts are solid. You could build a wall frame out of 2x2s similar to the way real houses are built. Then you would attach the frame to the base, then attach a thin exterior sheet to the frame. The sheet can be thin because the walls no longer need to hold the vertical screws. Another advantage is that if the wall frame is aligned with the edge of the base, the exterior sheet can extend all the way down to the bottom of the base, thus covering the seam between the wall and base that is visible in the picture. This seam is a vulnerable spot for the structure and it would be nice to cover it.
