Responsibility Starts Young
Luis is a 10 year old boy who has always wanted a labrador of his
own. His mother told him that he could only choose a dog at the shelter
if he could take care of her veterinary costs and raise the money
to have her spayed before she was six months old. He agreed and they
got their dog Daisy.
Luis had just raised enough
money for the spay, by collecting tin cans, when Daisy was bitten
by a copperhead and became terribly ill and all the money he had
saved for her spay went to keeping her alive.
Daisy was now old enough
to become pregnant and had to spayed as soon as possible. Luis and
his mom called PAWS for help. We were able to help Luis out and
had Daisy spayed in time to prevent a litter. Luis is still showing
tremendous responsibility and keeping his promise to his mom and
his dog by continuing to raise money to reimburse PAWS for Daisy's
spay operation.
Heartfelt Thanks
I'm writing to thank you so very much for
the help you gave me with the group of stray kittens that I had
in my yard. I called sometime before the holidays to say that I
had a mother cat with some older kittens and another litter that
was just born. I was getting frantic. I was worried that the mother
would have another litter...and I just couldn't afford to feed even
more of them.
I had been feeding them,
but needed help to catch them and to see that they were spayed/neutered.
When I called, you sent me a young man (Doug, A PAWS Board member
and trapper) who was just wonderful. Through his efforts, we were
able to trap all nine of the cats/kittens and have them taken care
of. I want you to know what a terrific job Doug did for us. He was
prompt in his response each time I called, was compassionate and
understanding in the way he handled the animals and in his response
to my questions and concerns.
He was truly a Godsend.
You are truly fortunate to have such a wonderful young man as a
volunteer. He was great! (I hope you will tell him so). I now have
all of the "babies" in my yard. I feed them and talk to
them each day and enjoy their antics a great deal. They are a handful,
but I love them all very much. Your organization does a wonderful
job, and I wanted you to know how much I appreciate what you have
done for me...and for them. I will do my best to take good care
of them.
Thank you again, D.M.
